The constitution never once uses the word "God", it never calls the United States a "christian" anything, yet it explicitly states that "no religious test" shall be required for public office.
The founders may have made a religious and Christian nation, but they made a secular and inviting government so that people of any faith would not suffer persecution. At the time, they probably just meant different denominations of Christianity, but we hold it on principle that we should not oppress or discriminate against others because of their faith, lest we suffer persecution for ours. These magnificent principles of equality, fairness, and justice are our founding father's greater angels.

People who don't understand principles such as these enjoy the privileges of being the majority, and barely understand the meaning of the words "all men are created equal". Even with this was written we were oppressors; we enslaved people because of their race, and we oppressed women. These shortcomings in achieving their own principles are our father's lowest demons.

Let's strive for our founding fathers greater angels, rather than sleeping with their demons.
